At the last meeting Fred Squires gave an interesting talk on

his memories as a young lad of 11 to 13 at the time of the

"Freindly Invasion" of the 389th Bomb Group of the USAF at

Hethel in the period 1943 to 1945.

Due to the age of several members attending the meeting,

he managed to stir up their own memories of that period.

Mr Squires was instrumental in the setting up of the

Bomb Group's Memorial Exhibition in the camp's chapel and
it is now open to the public on the second Sunday of each

month between April and October from 10am to 4pm

with a major opening day on Father's day each year.

At the end of the meeting a vote of thanks was proposed

by club chairman Colin Proctor.

Next meeting is September 7th 2011

when Philip Yaxley will give a talk on the

"Wymondham Murders"
